RAW: Juicing Atonement

We love food!  And not just any type of food, we LOVE GOOD FOOD! That being said sometimes my body just gets all funk-da-fied when I’ve been a little over indulgent.  So I try to balance things out with what I like to call “juicing atonement.”  That’s when I kind of get back to basics and get my eating on a better track.  So in the efforts to be more balanced I will do loads of juicing to kind of cancel out the you know, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes from the Four Seasons I made this past weekend! HA!   When I juice I feel clear headed, focused, and overall very positive.

As of lately my favorite combinations have been:  Pineapple & orange, carrot orange, & apple, and then orange, grapes and strawberries.

I tend to like the more acidic combinations.  I do like green ones as well, and have been doing this little ditty for the last few weeks.  It is the one from the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.
Mean Green Juice

4 stalks Celery
6-8 leaves Kale
1 Cucumber
1/2 Lemon
1 tbsp Ginger
2 Apples

Directions:
1. Wash all produce well
2. Peel the lemon, optional
3. Juice
4. Pour over ice
5. Enjoy!
I try to start off each day with a fresh juice or smoothie.  And in the summer they are perfect way to start your day without feeling weighed down like a bump on a log!
Stay thirsty my friends!

It was really a great documentary. And the recipe is very good. It's a green drink, so it's not as sweet as a lot of the fruit based juices, but it's a fabulous way to get most of your days greens in one shot!
